How much does a Doula Angel’s guidance cost?
A Doula Angel is, alternately and in collaboration with her fellow Doula Angels from the birth doula team, always reachable for your clinical childbirth via mobile phone. They work according to a specific on-call schedule known to the participating midwifery practices. The Doula Angel is activated to attend your childbirth by the attending midwife if you have asked her to do so. Your case and necessary information are shared only with the on-call Doula Angel by the on call midwife. Just as she will share that info with the clinical midwife and/ or gynaecologist who will take over the care for you and your baby.
A Doula Angel is on call for your clinical childbirth between 38 and 42 weeks. But because so many Doula Angels work together, there is always an Angel available for a last-minute birth or for a client who gives birth prematurely or overdue.
An assigned Doula Angel visits you (and your partner) if possible once during your pregnancy. You will receive a prenatal session from week 36 onwards. This session will take place at your home or at the midwifery practice should you like that. The doula will offer the session only if the total invoice is paid. It must fit within her and your or your partner's schedule. A prenatal session is scheduled at least 48 hours (and preferably longer) in advance by sending an email to: maartje@doulaacademie.nl.
How much, how many and additional conditions
The fee for participating in the Doula Angels program is €800,- (incl. VAT), and must be paid within 7 days after receiving the invoice. The Doula Angels will only go on call for you (and your potential partner) once the invoice is paid. For this amount, you will receive:
- one prenatal session of up to two hours at your home with one of the Doula Angels, where your birth plan and intake form will be reviewed, possibly supplemented with a number of breathing and/or relaxation exercises.
- Guidance during your childbirth by one of the Doula Angels.
- Postpartum session via video call, approximately two weeks after the delivery (by the same Doula Angel who attended the birth), to review the timeline and events surrounding the birth of your baby.
An additional prenatal* or postpartum appointment at your home can be booked for an additional fee of €75,- (incl. VAT), by sending an e-mail to: maartje@doulaacademie.nl.
*The extra prenatal appointment is preferably provided by a different doula from the Doula Angels team than the doula who conducted the initial intake session, so you can meet multiple doulas from the Doula Angels team
The fine print
If the birth of your baby begins before settling the invoice, the Doula Angel will commence her services only after the payment is confirmed through a 'tikkie' or direct bank transfer.
The on-call Doula Angel from the Doula Angels team will be present at your childbirth location within a maximum of 2 hours after the call and earlier when possible. She will keep you informed of her arrival time via WhatsApp, and if necessary, share some tips and tricks already by phone after having received notification of the start of labour.
If the physical presence of your assigned Doula Angel at your childbirth is desired for more than 12 hours, an additional hourly rate of €50,- (incl. VAT) will apply. The additional hours invoice will be sent by the Doula Angel after the birth of your baby and must be settled within 7 days, but certainly before the postpartum session.
